Inter prefer Lazio defender Luiz Felipe over Gladbach’s German international defender Matthias Ginter if they were to sign either of the duo on a free transfer.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia’s transfer market expert Gianluigi Longari, speaking in an interview with The Italian Football Podcast published earlier today.

The 28-year old German FIFA World Cup winner has made it publicly clear that he will leave Gladbach after his contract expires with the club, with Inter being one of the club’s heavily linked with snapping him up on a free transfer.

Inter have also been linked with the 24 year old Brazilian Lazio defender Luiz Felipe, who spend four seasons being coached by current Inter coach Simone Inzaghi before the latter replaced Antonio Conte last summer.

However, a move for either player hinges on the Nerazzurri offloading Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij this summer, whose contract with the Nerazzurri expires at the end of June 2023.

“Should Stefan de Vrij leave then Inter’s first choice is Torino’s Bremer. Inter could decide to take two players, like they did last summer when Lukaku left and they signed Correa and Dzeko.

“So they could replace de Vrij with Bremer and one defender on a free transfer. In this moment, Luiz Felipe is more likely than Matthias Ginter, because Ginter doesn’t convince Inter as much as Luiz Felipe.”
