Antonio Conte is more likely than not to remain at Inter this summer, according to a leading Italian journalist.

Inter are battling a serious economic crisis at present and it could force owners Suning to sacrifice one or more key players in the transfer window.

Conte seems determined to meet Nerazzurri president Steven Zhang before making a decision on his future, with Inter’s boss still unclear as to what might happen next season.

“There are three possibilities for Conte’s future,” Fabrizio Biasin wrote in a column for Friday’s print edition of Libero.

“Option A, which is unlikely, is that Zhang decides to sell several key players and Conte walks out.

“Option B, which is possible, is that Zhang keeps the team as it is and, at most, asks for one big player to be sacrificed.

“Conte stays in that scenario but without an obligation to win a trophy.

“Option C, which is fanciful, is that the situation in China improves, the Zhang family uncorks the bottle and they sign Ngolo Kante, Rodrigo de Paul and Marcos Alonso, while Conte dances the Macarena.”

Conte continued his media silence ahead of tonight’s Derby d’Italia at Juventus by opting not to appear for his pre-match press conference.

Inter’s head coach spoke to the club’s in-house TV channel instead, and it seems there is a clear explanation for why he is keeping quiet.

“Conte is wisely avoiding the press conferences and delaying every decision, because he wants to speak to the owners (Suning) first,” Biasin added.

“His talks with Zhang will clarify what Inter’s future will be.”

Conte is focused on beating his former club Juventus, who are in desperate need of a win tonight to keep their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification alive.
