Italian Journalist Argues Inter Milan ‘Played A Great Match’ Despite Narrow Serie A Win Vs Venezia | OneFootball

Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani feels Inter Milan “played a great match” against Venezia despite their narrow margin of victory.

He gave his thoughts on the 1-0 Serie A victory on Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

Inter beat Venezia by a narrow 1-0 scoreline yesterday evening.

But in truth, the match could have seen more goals than just the solitary header from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.

There were several good chances for Inter to score more.

Some profligate finishing as well as outstanding goalkeeping by Inter-owned Venezia keeper Filip Stankovic prevented the Nerazzurri from scoring any more.

There was also a Henrikh Mkhitaryan goal that came at the end of a flowing team move, but which was disallowed for a narrow offside by Federico Dimarco.

At the other end, meanwhile, Venezia had a late goal of their own ruled out for an attacking handball.

And that was far from the only decent opportunity to score that the Lagunari had.

Like Stankovic at the other end, Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer had to produce some excellent stops in order to preserve his team’s clean sheet.

Trevisani: “Inter Milan Played A Great Match Vs Venezia”

Italian journalist Trevisani gave his verdict.

“Inter played a great match,” the journalist said.

“Stankovic was the best player on the pitch, and it wasn’t even close,” he said of the Venezia keeper.

“If we want to quibble and say that the push on Bisseck from Sverko isn’t a foul, then the one by Dumfries on Haps is similarly light,” Trevisani said of the disallowed Venezia goal in stoppage time.

“A penalty could certainly be given there,” he went on. “Because the handball is very clear.”

Trevisani argued that Inter “deserved to win.”

“However, the fact remains that Inter are conceding goals.”

“Sommer has had to make more saves,” he noted. “And then he wasn’t able to do that against Juventus.”
