Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail) reports that AC Milan are eyeing up a move for Serge Aurier.
The report claims that the Milan giants see the Ivorian as a replacement for Andrea Conti, and Aurier is also looking for an exit from Tottenham.
The 26-year-old has struggled with fitness issues since signing for Tottenham and could return to former club Paris Saint-Germain in the transfer window (h/t Daily Mail).
The Ivorian didn’t feature in the opening game of the season, with Kyle Walker-Peters starting against Aston Villa.
However, should the 26-year-old leave, Tottenham will be in a spot of bother. Mauricio Pochettino sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid in the summer and we do not have another senior right-back at the moment.
Spurs cannot sign any players in the summer unless they are free agents, and selling Aurier could be a risky move now.
Juan Foyth is capable of playing in the right-back position but the Argentine is currently nursing an ankle injury. It would be better to keep hold of Aurier until the winter window and then decide on his future.
Spurs’ schedule is packed and an injury to Walker-Peters could put us in a spot of bother.
Aurier isn’t the most consistent defender in the Premier League but we cannot sell him until we find a quality replacement.
