Last night’s match between FC Barcelona and Sevilla would have been a special one for the hosts’ head coach, García Pimienta, as it was during his time as Barcelona Atletic’s head coach that he gained the prominence he now enjoys at the highest level of Spanish football.
However, the night did not go in a very delightful fashion for the Spanish tactician, as he saw his Sevilla team lose the game with a 1-4 scoreline.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, there were two actions in the game last night that Pimienta regretted in particular, as he himself revealed in his press conference after the match:
“First, Fermín’s goal right at the start—one we could have avoided. In my opinion, there was a very clear play: the penalty that should have meant a 2-2 draw.”
“It was a clear push by Koundé on Sow. It’s a blatant penalty; then, of course, you have to score it, but it was a very clear incident. If we had scored that goal, we would have drawn level and stayed in the game.”
Meanwhile, the 50-year-old Spanish tactician admitted that it was very difficult for his side to get a result against a team as strong as Barcelona.
“We didn’t have chances because we were up against a great team, and the match was very tough for us.”
The Blaugranes themselves had reasons to complain last night, as they saw one of their players, Fermin Lopez, being expelled from the game for a rather harsh red card in the 62nd minute.
But these decisions are a part of the game, and FC Barcelona fans can remain satisfied with how their team performed in this game, getting three very important points despite being a man down for almost the entirety of the second half.
