“It speaks for itself”, Ange speaks out on Shame Game | OneFootball

Ange Postecoglou has stated “I think it speaks for itself” when asked to comment on Fran Alonso being assaulted by a member of theRangers coaching staff on Monday evening.

The incident which saw Rangers Women’s assistant boss Craig McPherson assault Celtic FC Women’s Head coach Fran Alonso came at the end of Monday’s Glasgow Derby at Broadwood, as Alonso shook hands with opposition players and staff following Caitlin Hayes 99th minute leveller for the Hoops.

With the Celtic manager willing to acknowledge the incident, as reported on Sky Sports.

“Look, I think it speaks for itself and the important thing is now that it is in the hands of the people it should be in the hands of. They will investigate it properly and get all sides of the story and deal with it appropriately.

“For us as a football club, we need to comply with the investigation, do everything we need to do and let the rest take care of itself.”

McPherson was charged by the Scottish FA over his cowardly, from behind headbutt on Alonso at the end of Monday’s Glasgow Derby at Broadwood Stadium. That incident is now subject of a police investigation, meanwhile McPherson will have to face up to an SFA hearing on April 13.

The incident, the subject of police enquiries, occurred at full-time after the Hoops had scored a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw. McPherson will face an SFA hearing on April 13 after being deemed to have breached disciplinary rules.

Across the city theRangers have taken a different approach, with Mick Beale taking a scarcely believable ‘see no evil, hear no evil’ approach to the incident –

“I didn’t see it live. I haven’t seen it since, I have obviously been told about it. I know with the SFA and Rangers there is an ongoing discussion around it.

All I would say on Craig is that it is out of character for him. I think everyone who knows him in Scotland, knows him as a man, knows it is out of character.

The SFA, the club and Craig are away having discussions about it. I personally haven’t spoken to him on it.”

Beale’s comments are the first to come from the Ibrox club, with the club maintaining media silence at least on the matter.

Fran Alonso has intimated his wish to receive an apology from theRangers’ assistant boss, but at the time of writing, five days after the assault took place, neither McPherson or his club appear to have been willing to do so. I think that also speaks for itself.
