Remember the days when it felt like João Moutinho was linked with a move to Manchester United every single transfer window?
Well it seems the Portuguese midfield maestro is finally going to get his big move to England this summer … but not to Old Trafford.
Nope, Moutinho will actually be swapping Monaco for the bright lights of Molineux after Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly agreed a £5m deal for his signature.
It perhaps won’t surprise you to learn that the 31-year-old is a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes – who is heavily involved with player recruitment at Wolves – and the Portugal international is set to link up with compatriots such as Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Ruben Vingare and Rui Patricio at the newly promoted club.
According to various reports, Moutinho will complete his move to Wolves later this week, and will sign a two-year contract.
The experienced former Sporting CP and Porto midfielder moved to Monaco in a £22.5m deal in 2013 and went on to make 219 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
His honours include four Portuguese titles, one French title, the Europa League and the 2016 European Championship.
