Transfer News: Manchester United transfer target Ousmane Dembele’s agent lets rip at Barcelona amidst contract feud

Moussa Sissoko, Ousmane Dembele‘s agent, has made a scathing remark towards Barcelona surrounding the contract situation with Manchester United identifying his client as a transfer target. Both parties have been in a standoff regarding an extension and so, this new update would be music to the ears of the interested parties.

Dembele will see his contract with Barca expire at the end of the current season, which means that he can reach a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs this month. They are desperate to tie down his future at Camp Nou and have threatened to send him out to the stands to make their case.

Speaking in an interview with RMC (h/t ESPN), Sissoko has issued a warning to the Blaugrana club that he would not be fazed by their negotiations tactics. He added that the Frenchman wants his demands to be met, which is not influenced by monetary factors while revealing that they have not come forward with an offer.

“It is intimidation and it doesn’t work with us. I am here to defend the interests of my player. Yes, we have certain demands, but we’ve already shown that Ousmane’s career choices aren’t dictated by money, otherwise he would not be here. If Barca wanted to negotiate, they could have come to the table with us to talk. Except there has been no discussion, just threats of no longer playing him [if he doesn’t renew].”

Opportunity for Man Utd?

The 24-year-old’s agent’s comments are straight-up accusing the Spanish side of threatening Dembele into signing a new deal, which could lead to further clashes up ahead. Should that happen, their relationship would be at low, plus with the contract expiry nearing its date, an exit cannot be ruled out.

This public feud could provide us with a great chance of signing up the La Liga attacker for free at the end of the season. He may not be banished to sit on the sidelines since Xavi Hernandez is not impressed by that idea. His representative has mentioned that they are open to negotiations but his comments are clearly not diplomatic and can push Barca into taking an action.

Interestingly, Mateu Alemany, director of football of the Catalan club, has claimed that the club has made an offer and they need a reply from the France international soon. That is opposite to what the latter’s agent said, which further indicates something fishy going on in the background.

We would not have it easy, though, since Chelsea, Newcastle United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, alongside several other clubs, are keeping tabs on the situation. The Red Devils would need to better the competition, which would be challenging, considering the heavyweights’ involvement. Time will tell if we can get him in our bag at the end of this campaign.

But even if we don’t, it isn’t like it would be the end of the world for us. We already have a load of wingers, with young Amad Diallo yet to make an impact on the senior team this season. Our problems lie a bit central to the pitch, but regardless, signing the dynamic winger on a free is an opportunity we would be wise to not let go of.
