Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans has stressed that he ‘clicks well’ with club and national team-mate Amadou Onana and he wants to bring that connection to the Belgian national team as well.
Unai Emery has signed Onana from Everton this summer after Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz headed out to Juventus.
Onana has partnered with his national team-mate Tielemans in central midfield in Aston Villa’s opening league matches.
He has scored twice already for Villans and both of them came from set pieces delivered by Tielemans.
The 27-year-old Belgian stressed that he wants to bring his connection with Onana to the national team as he ‘clicks well’ with him.
“It clicks well with Amadou. He has already scored twice on set pieces, he is a profile that we needed in the team”, Tielemans told VTM Nieuws about Onana.
“We can bring that connection to the national team.”
Tielemans, though, admitted that it is up to Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco if he wants it or not as he plays a different system.
“But it is up to the coach to make his choice.
“At Aston Villa, we play with a different midfield, so that is a difference.”
Tielemans and Onana will be looking to continue their link-up for the rest of the campaign after they made a fantastic start.
