Mexican defender Israel Reyes insists the National Team can compete at the highest level again soon.
The 22-year-old will join Club América on a permanent deal in the new year and is relishing the challenge to establish himself in both the Mexico squad and that of Las Águilas.
“I am young, and I am delighted to be part of this team, to be able to contribute in whatever way I need to,” said Reyes.
“I am very excited to get started, to grow with my new teammates and, over the course of the next few years, get into the next World Cup in the best way possible, but it will need to be a joint effort as we will need to grow in all aspects.
“From a footballing perspective, that’s up to me at the end of the day. To take all the details that I can improve and adjust those, but we have a solid group that can compete at the highest level.”
Reyes became a standout in Liga MX during the 2022 Apertura season and featured 76 times for Puebla before completing his move to América.
