Isaac Hayden has reiterated his desire to help Norwich City as he opened up on his injury frustration following a knee problem.

The defensive midfielder joined the Canaries in the summer and his arrival was seen as a coup given his pedigree over the years, however fitness issues meant Hayden had to wait to make his debut.

However, since coming into the XI it’s fair to say the 27-year-old hasn’t lived up to expectations, but Hayden confirmed in an emotional post on Twitter that he had been playing with an injury, that has now been addressed, meaning he faces a spell on the sidelines.

It’s been a soul destroying feeling not being able to play like the player I was a year ago and the player ultimately the club signed, but nobody more so than myself is frustrated at the cards I’ve been dealt since joining Norwich City on loan.

I accept criticism of my performances in games from fans/media etc. I’m big enough to take it, but when people question my character, or if I want to be at the football club and give my all to it, I will not accept that.”

The verdict

This is a very honest message from Hayden and he deserves praise for it as it’s given the supporters an insight into how he is feeling, which doesn’t always happen with professionals.

Clearly, he is hugely frustrated at how this season has gone and the latest injury issue, which caused him to miss out against Watford last time out, is not what he needed after a slow start to life at Carrow Road.

Now, it’s about recovering and Hayden is clearly committed to helping the Canaries as they push for promotion.
