In an exclusive interview with Sacha Tavolieri, now former Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Hayden has revealed the real reason as to why he cut his loan with the club short to return to Newcastle United. The midfielder has said that the club fail to pay wages on time, with his November wage only being paid at the end of December. Furthermore, the 28-year-old has stated that he is looking into legal options to ensure that the club pays him salary that is owed.
Hayden is clearly not the only one at Standard who has suffered from this. The former Norwich loanee has said how the situation is not unique to him and that all players have suffered from the same delay in payments. Given that the club has been under two transfer embargoes for financial reasons this season, the situation at the club is not looking great from the outside. Owners 777 are coming under increasing pressure from fans as they are concerned about the direction they are taking the club.
Hayden made 11 appearances for Standard this season.
