Manager Tomás Boy has been on the hot seat seemingly from the moment he took over Chivas in place of José Cardozo.
In seven Liga MX matches in charge, Boy has only won two of those contests, though his victories have come against last season’s finalists Tigres and León.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s Copa MX clash against Santos Laguna, Isaac Brizuela defended Boy and claimed he has the backing of the entire dressing room.
“Tomás has a lot of experience,” Brizuela told ESPN. “He has had people rooting against him and I don’t think he deserves it, but he knows how to handle that situation.
“He focuses on his work and believes that the team doesn’t worry about what people say.
“We have a good relationship that is open. It helps when you can tell him whether or not you agree with something. He tries to be calm and develop good football.
“We need a lot and we’ve adapted to his style of play. It is a day-to-day job. It’s a task I know I wouldn’t want to be given. He believes in each one of us and gives us plenty of confidence.
“Every game I see the faces of my team-mates. At times you have nervous moments on the pitch but then you realise the quality of team-mates you have and you are motivated to say that with this team you cannot give away a game.
“We all think alike and like great players, we know that if we commit and believe that we will be able to achieve our goals.”
Correcaminos and Santos Laguna kicked off Group 7 play with a 1-1 draw last week.
