Club América and Chivas. In Mexico, it doesn’t get any bigger than this. Luckily for us, we get it twice in a week as they face off in the Copa MX quarter-finals on Wednesday before their league match on Saturday.

Chivas winger Isaác Brizuela has played in this match several times since arriving in 2015 and knows the enormity of the occasion.

“The team generates a lot of buzz. We have to be focused and not worry,” Brizuela said at a press conference.

“I can be calm because my teammates are capable of playing very well. They should worry about us.

“Obviously it is always special to play a clásico. Those of us who get to play in these type of matches are very fortunate.

“Wednesday’s game is important because it will be a boost in the motivation of the team.

“America are better in the table (by one point), but both teams are very even.

“We arrive at a stage where we want to be in a better position. We are hungry for more triumphs, I see a very even match.”

In last year’s versions of El Súper Clásico, both games finished with a 1-1 draw.

The last time there was a victor, América defeated Chivas 2-1 in October 2017 at the Estadio Azteca.
