Chivas winger Isaác Brizuela has called on fans to maintain “trust” despite a disappointing start to the season.

With five key players away on Mexico international duty at the Concacaf Gold Cup and Olympics, the Flock slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Atlético San Luis on Saturday.

Los Rojiblancos have not gone to the transfer market this summer, opting rather to promote from within as a means of fighting their way back to the top.

It’s a policy that is not guaranteed to work, but Brizuela is fully behind the club’s direction.

“That is the word that I think is very key, trusting yourself first, obviously doing things well will generate that, confidence, bigger things, daring more, looking for a higher risk play…,” the 30-year-old told Chivas TV.

“[I] ask the fans for trust, patience. Not because I think they have endured many tournaments and it is rather thanks for all the support, but to invite them to trust in this team.

“I am sure that great things will be done this tournament.”

Chivas will have another chance to earn their supporters’ trust when they travel to Puebla on Friday for the second game in the 2021 Apertura.
