Is the air thick at FC Bayern? Kimmich’s statements make people sit up and take notice

With his winning goal against FC Arsenal, Joshua Kimmich is currently the „man of the moment“ at FC Bayern. The 29-year-old himself emphasised that this was probably the most important goal of his career. At the same time, however, Kimmich hinted that he was seething. As has now become known, the mood between club and player is not quite so harmonious.

After Bayern’s important semi-final appearance in the Champions League, of all things, Joshua Kimmich spoke plainly and made it clear that he is apparently not entirely at peace with his situation in Munich: „Of course, the goal is very, very good. I had to listen to a lot last year and got very, very little support,“ explained the FCB star after the game.

Particularly interesting: when asked explicitly whether he also meant the club and Bayern bosses by a lack of support, he explained: „Yes, in general. Everyone has said something about me. There were few who were in favour of Kimmich.“

Eberl statements disturb Kimmich

As reported by tz, Kimmich was not particularly happy with Max Eberl’s recent statements. The Munich sporting director had recently publicly emphasised that Kimmich „could also commit to the club you play for for a long time“. Eberl was referring to the defensive all-rounder’s contract situation.

His contract expires in 2025. So far, there have been no concrete negotiations between the club and the player, which Eberl believes is mainly down to Kimmich himself. He would first like to wait and see who takes over from Thomas Tuchel at the German record champions in the summer.

Kimmich’s reaction indicates that there is definitely a need for dialogue within FCB. The topic of „lack of appreciation“ is nothing new at Säbener Straße. Ex-Bayern professionals such as David Alaba, Niklas Süle and Robert Lewandowski have also complained in the recent past about the lack of support from those in charge. All three no longer play for Munich.

According to Sky, Kimmich is also not ruling out a departure in the summer if nothing changes in his overall situation. According to the report, a move abroad would appeal to the German international.
