In January it seemed the idea of Sergio Ramos staying at Real Madrid beyond the end of the season was almost impossible.
Now it is a probability.
That’s according to MARCA, who report on Friday that Ramos has remained in cordial conversation with club president Florentino Pérez about the his future and though a deal is far from being agreed at the moment, there is a willingness on both sides for the captain to extend his stay at the Bernabeu.
Ramos originally declined the club’s extension offer back in January, but MARCA say the 34-year-old met with Pérez as recently as last Tuesday to discuss the situation further.
The pair are expected to meet again soon, at which point Ramos will likely go away and make a final decision on his future.
The defender is currently recovering from injury, but the Champions League second leg against Atalanta on 16 March has been pencilled in as a possible date he could return to action.
