The German record champions‘ options for appointing Thomas Tuchel’s successor are becoming fewer and fewer. National coach Julian Nagelsmann is currently considered one of Munich’s top candidates. Should the 36-year-old’s return actually materialise, another old acquaintance of Bayern could also find his way back to Säbener Straße.
As reported by Sky, Sandro Wagner could make a comeback to the German record champions. The club is pursuing the idea of bringing Wagner to Säbener Straße if Julian Nagelsmann is hired as the new Bayern coach. So if an agreement is reached between the current national coach and the Munich club, the ex-Bayern professional could also make his return to Munich.
There, he would act as assistant coach to Nagelsmann, as he currently does with the national team. As part of the coaching staff, the ex-Munich man is also responsible for improving the DFB team’s performance.
Bayern would therefore already have a permanent fixture within the new coaching team. However, Sky reports that the 36-year-old is currently leaning towards staying with the DFB. Wagner could step in as interim coach there if Nagelsmann were to vacate his position after the European Championships.
