With the summer transfer window now upon us rumours have already started circulating linking Manchester United with a host of new players, but one name has particularly caught the eye.

Manchester United are keen on Christian Eriksen and have made an offer to the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

Eriksen, 30, is set to become a free agent with his current deal at Brentford due to expire on June 30th.

With Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic already gone, it’s no secret that United’s midfield is in need of further reinforcements.

Despite suffering a cardiac arrest back last summer at Euro 2020, Eriksen has since proven to be a fantastic addition on his return to the Premier League with Brentford. I’d go as far to say he is still one of the finest midfielders in European football.

Eriksen still has years left of his peak and would be without doubt a vast improvement on what we already have. He would go straight into the starting eleven and bring with him not only goals but assists too, and could potentially solve our midfield woes for at least 12 months.

There is a very real prospect that United’s midfield this season could line up with Eriksen, De Jong and Van De Beek next season – but don’t forget James Garner, who could be thrown into the mix.

Eriksen is a signing which makes perfect sense and one which could prove to be a real clever piece of business from United.
