Ipswich Town continue to fight at the top of the Championship.

Although Leicester City have remained league leaders for almost the entirety of the season so far, Ipswich have been on their tail as both clubs aim for promotion to the Premier League. In the Tractor Boys' case, it would be the first appearance in the top flight for 22 years, and thanks to Kieran Mckenna, this is the best chance they have had since their relegation in 2002.

Recently, it seemed as though Ipswich were going to slip away from the top two, as the side went on a slightly dry spell, failing to win in five league games. That all changed on Monday night, as the side travelled to the King Power Stadium for a huge clash with the league leaders.

Despite going a goal down in the first half, Ipswich equalised in the 89th minute through January signing, Jeremy Sarmiento, to take a point back to Suffolk. The Tractor Boys remain second in the table, but Southampton and Leeds sit directly behind.

As the January transfer window enters its final week, McKenna seems to be hopeful of adding to his squad, having already introduced Sarmiento and Lewis Travis earlier this month. Today, Football League World looks at three names currently being linked with a move to Portman Road.

Ipswich want Austrian forward

According to Florian Plettenberg on X, Ipswich and Bristol City are both keen on signing Maximilian Entrup from Austrian side, TSV Hartberg. The 26-year-old has scored eight goals and assisted three so far in the Austrian top-flight, and now looks set to be moving elsewhere.

With George Hirst out injured for a significant period of time, Dane Scarlett being recalled by Tottenham and Freddie Ladapo joining Charlton on loan, Ipswich are undeniably short of strikers. Although fairly unknown, Entrup could be a solid signing for the Tractor Boys due to his goal-scoring form and recent call-up to Austria's senior national team.

Al-Hamadi targeted

As revealed by Stuart Watson of the East Anglia Daily Times, Ipswich have selected Ali Al-Hamadi as a major target going into the final week of the January transfer window. The 21-year-old has been AFC Wimbledon's star man this season, scoring 13 goals and assisting six in just 22 league starts so far.

He has been on the radar of many clubs in League One and the Championship, and has obvious qualities that suggest he is capable of the step-up. Again, due to the absence of starting striker, George Hirst, Al-Hamadi would fit in perfectly at Portman Road until the end of the season and beyond.

The Iraqi forward is currently away at the Asia Cup, but Ipswich will be hoping to strike a deal over the coming days.

Ipswich among the clubs interested in Burnley winger

Finally, the Tractor Boys have identified another attacking option in Burnley forward, Manuel Benson, according to a report from Give Me Sport. They are not the only club keen on securing his services though, as Birmingham City and Leeds United are said to be interested.

Benson has barely appeared for Burnley this season, making just four Premier League appearances. A loan spell seems imminent, and looking at the clubs interested, he could very well choose Ipswich in their hunt for back-to-back promotions.

The Belgian played a big part in Burnley's promotion from the Championship last season, scoring 12 league goals from the right-wing position.
