Kieran McKenna’s side will be eyeing promotion straight back to the top flight, with the club’s sights set on establishing themselves at that level long-term.

The summer transfer window provides the Suffolk outfit with the opportunity to build a team capable of a top two finish.

However, outgoings will also be a concern after suffering the drop from the first division, with any deals needing to be completed by 1 September.

Here we take a look at all the latest news surrounding Ipswich

It has been claimed by Talksport (11.40AM) that Ashley Young is set for a switch to Ipswich after his proposed move to Watford broke down.

The Tractor Boys are closing in on the 40-year-old, who departed Everton after two seasons earlier in the summer.

The full-back featured 32 times in the Premier League in the previous campaign, helping David Moyes’ side earn a 13th-place finish in the table.

It has been reported by the Watford Observer that the Hornets were unable to agree terms with Young due to fears over his wage demands.

Liverpool starlet chase

It has been reported by journalist Lewis Steele that Ipswich are among the clubs eyeing a move for James McConnell this summer.

It’s believed that the Suffolk outfit face competition from both Derby County and West Brom, as well as sides from Germany.

McConnell has been unable to break into Arne Slot’s first-team plans at Liverpool, and did not feature in the Premier League last season.

However, he is set for a new long-term contract, with the Reds hoping to offload him on loan in order for him to get game time in the upcoming campaign.

Rob Edwards has provided an update on Hayden Hackney’s Middlesbrough future amid speculation over interest from Ipswich.

The new Boro boss has claimed that the midfielder is fully committed to the club ahead of the new campaign.

"H, as far as I'm concerned and aware at the moment, he's here and that's why he's playing and out on the pitch," said Edwards, via The Northern Echo.

"He's fully committed.

“He loves this football club and we love him.

"He's a really good player, I thought him and Aidan showed that in the first half."

Don Goodman makes exciting Ipswich firepower claim

Don Goodman has highlighted the level of attacking talent at Ipswich’s disposal going into the new Championship campaign.

He believes that, despite losing Liam Delap, McKenna’s side will score plenty of goals in their bid for promotion.

“I was looking at Ipswich Town's squad for next season the other day, and I'd completely forgotten the firepower that they've got,” Goodman exclusively told FLW.

“Particularly at Championship level.

“Despite losing Liam Delap, they’ve still got Conor Chaplin, Omari Hutchinson, Wes Burns, Jaden Philogene, Nathan Broadhead, Jack Clarke, Ali Al Hamadi and George Hirst.

“But Sammie Szmodics is the most important one.

“When he was last at this level in a pretty average Blackburn Rovers team, he scored an incredible number of goals and finished as the league's top scorer.

“So, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever that he will score plenty for Ipswich Town next season.”
