Amad Diallo is a wanted man at the moment, even though he hasn't had a real opportunity to impress at Manchester United this season due to his injury troubles.

His season at Sunderland last term has been enough to put him in the shop window though - and it's no surprise that teams at the top end of the Championship are taking a closer look at the Ivorian.

Football Insider reported earlier this month that both Leicester City and the Black Cats are readying offers for him ahead of the January transfer window, although it remains to be seen whether the latter are still in the frame to sign him following Tony Mowbray's departure.

In a boost for interested teams, Man United could be willing to accept a loan offer and one of those sides is Southampton.

The Saints have lost Ross Stewart for the foreseeable future and a departure for Che Adams could potentially be on the cards in January considering his deal expires next summer.

With this in mind, Russell Martin's side could benefit from some extra firepower, although some would argue that they may not need it considering the unbeaten run they have been on in recent months.

It could be argued that all four mentioned teams have a real chance of securing a loan deal for the Ivorian.

The Black Cats have already had Diallo on loan and a chance to return to the Stadium of Light may be appealing to the player.

Mowbray may have left, but many key players on Wearside have remained at the club including Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts.

Leicester and Southampton, meanwhile, should have a decent amount to spend after selling key players during the summer transfer window.

Although millions may not be needed for a loan deal, both could offer an attractive financial package to United to take him away from Old Trafford for the remainder of the campaign.

Ipswich are in the automatic promotion zone though and with Kieran McKenna previously a coach at Old Trafford, Football League World understands the Tractor Boys' boss will lean on his contacts to try and get a deal over the line for the 21-year-old.

Having already brought Brandon Williams in on loan, a relationship between Ipswich and United is clear to see and it's clear that ex-Red Devils players are keen on him too, with Axel Tuanzebe joining the club permanently following the expiration of his contract at the Premier League giants.

How Amad Diallo could fit in at Ipswich Town

Diallo can either play centrally or out wide in a three behind the striker - and Ipswich's formation is one he will be familiar with considering the 4-2-3-1 system was also in use under Mowbray at the Stadium of Light last term.

Omari Hutchinson, Wes Burns, Conor Chaplin, Marcus Harness, Kayden Jackson, Sone Aluko and Nathan Broadhead can also operate in the attacking midfield three - and with this in mind - some would argue that Diallo isn't required.

But the Ivorian will back himself to start over most of those players and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him either rotate with Chaplin or play on the wing with Chaplin and Broadhead or Burns alongside him.
