Conn-Clarke and his current side were previously in contention to secure a place in the EFL ahead of next season, with the team qualifying for the National League play-offs.

However, they were knocked out by Bromley, who eventually went on to win the play-offs, and this could mean that Altrincham lose their star man during the summer transfer window.

He signed for the club last summer on a permanent basis from Fleetwood Town, with Charlie Adam's side now likely to be regretting that decision to let go of him after seeing him shine in the fifth tier last term.

With the Lancashire outfit being relegated to League Two, they could potentially be playing against their former striker next term, or he could even leap above them in the English football pyramid.

The Northern Irishman started his career in his home nation before moving to Burnley and then to Fleetwood, and it wouldn't be a shock to see him play at the same level as the Clarets next term.

Interest mounting in Chris Conn-Clarke

Football Transfers have revealed the sheer volume of interest in the 22-year-old currently.

Premier League new boys Ipswich are thought to be keen on the player, although the attacker will need to take four steps up the football pyramid if he's to join the Tractor Boys.

Pompey, who have been promoted to the Championship, are also believed to be keen on the player. But again, it remains to be seen whether he's able to take such a big leap.

Peterborough United and Mansfield Town are also named in this report as interested sides, with both set to compete in League One next season following the former's loss against Oxford United in the play-off semis yesterday.

All interested sides would need to fork out a considerable amount to get this deal over the line though.

This is because his contract at his current side doesn't expire until the summer of 2026, leaving the non-league club in a very strong negotiating position.

Chris Conn-Clarke needs to consider his future carefully

Conn-Clarke could make a life-changing move if he makes the switch to a top-flight or second-tier side.

He would be on a very decent amount and could be loaned out to another club lower down the pyramid.

This is why a move to a side in the top two tiers could be desirable, with his scoring record doing enough to earn him attention that high up in the pyramid.

But a move to a third or fourth-tier side could allow him to settle down at a permanent destination, perform well there and then potentially move on in a couple of years.

The Northern Irishman is 22 now, so he may not be keen to go out on loan.

This is why the likes of Peterborough and Mansfield have just as much of a chance of signing the 22-year-old as those higher up the pyramid do.
