Inzaghi on injury updates and desire to ‘stay at Inter for many years’ | OneFootball

Simone Inzaghi reiterates his desire to remain at Inter ‘for many years’ and gives important injury updates for tomorrow’s match with Como.

It kicks off at San Siro on Monday at 19.45 GMT and will be the final Serie A match before the Christmas break.

“We know there are difficulties, as Como are a very good team with a mixture of experience and quality youth,” said Inzaghi in a press conference.

“Cesc Fabregas is showing his capabilities as a coach in Serie A, so it is going to be a very complicated match. I already followed Como in Serie B and you can really see his tactical principles, they always play to win.”

Inter have a few injury issues, as with Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi already out of action, Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian are also carrying knocks.

“We will evaluate them both tomorrow morning to see if they can recover in time, but if they miss out then we’ll be without four defenders and have to see what we can do.”

There were also worries about Nicolò Barella, who has a small muscular issue.

“He trained well yesterday and today, so I will evaluate, but he is at least in the squad.”

Inzaghi committed to Inter future

In an interview today, Lautaro Martinez said that Inzaghi is an ‘underestimated coach’ on the Italian and global stage, so does he agree?

“It’s all a matter of opinion. The important thing is that I am happy where I am, I feel appreciated here and can give my best,” replied the coach.

“We are always working to improve and there is so much competition in Serie A. There are three or four teams at the same level as us this season, so it will be a battle and we need to take another step up.”

There were even suggestions that Inter could offer Inzaghi another contract extension, even though he only recently signed a new deal.

“My desire is to stay for many years, as I feel appreciated with my staff and team, so naturally the objective is to keep that going. I realise things can change quickly in football, but in 2024 I saw a team push through in moments of difficulty, proving ourselves real men by never bowing to pressure.”
