Inzaghi admits Milan opportunity came ‘too soon’ in his managerial career | OneFootball

Filippo Inzaghi has opened up about his time as the first-team manager of AC Milan, appointed by Berlusconi and Galliani just two years into his coaching career. He has admitted that it was probably too soon.

The club legend initially took over Milan’s U17 side and after doing well with them in his first season, he was promoted to take over the Primavera. He did especially well with them and this earned him the role of head coach after Clarence Seedorf was sacked.

Many believed that it was a strange decision by the club management, especially since Seedorf got just six months at the helm and set a rather negative precedent for former players. Speaking to SportItalia, Inzaghi admitted that it was probably too soon for him.

“Too soon? Maybe yes, I was a young coach, it was a time of change, but I remember that no player ever disrespected me, but that experience strengthened me. We do a wonderful job, where, however, you have to have broad shoulders,” he said as cited by SempreMilan.it.

Inzaghi is currently the manager of Serie B side Reggina (since the summer) and they currently sit in second place with an impressive 25 points. He has already earned promotion once to the top flight (with Benevento) and could thus do it again.
