Inter will owe team manager Lele Oriali a huge debt if the Nerazzurri win Serie A this season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Oriali was playing a pivotal role behind the scenes as Antonio Conte led the club towards their first league title since 2010.

Oriali is acting as a ‘filter’ between Inter’s players and directors, helping the first-team squad talk through any concerns or doubts they might have.

He ensures that Inter’s hierarchy need only hear about the most important matters, being described as ‘the first reference point’ for all players.

Oriali also played a crucial role in helping Conte settle into life at Inter back in 2019, the Milan-based paper revealed, although Conte did not need too much time to make himself at home.

Beppe Marotta was keen to reunite Conte and Oriali at San Siro after their period working together for the Italian national team, and it seems Inter’s CEO made a great call.

Oriali won two Serie A titles for Inter as a player before adding to his collection at the club with several trophies during his first stint as a director.

The former midfielder now wants to help write another page of the Nerazzurri’s history, and it is looking good with Inter 11 points clear at the top of the table.
