Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is set to undergo medical tests to assess a potential injury.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A side Inter have scheduled a medical examination on Thursday for Calhanoglu to check for an injury he suffered during Turkey’s match against Wales in the international break.

Primary reports from the Turkish camp suggest that the 30-year-old has sustained a muscle problem in the adductor of his left thigh, the same area where he hurt himself a month ago in the game versus Roma.

The Nerazzurri want to establish the extent of the injury before letting the playmaker take the field this weekend with the return of club football. It is a nervy time for manager Simone Inzaghi as losing Calhanoglu for the second time in a few weeks might prove to challenge his future tactics.

Inter are set to play Verona, Leipzig and Fiorentina next.
