Corriere dello Sport have highlighted the stark contrast in the stats between Inter’s performances domestically in Serie A and whilst playing in the Champions League in an article in today’s print edition.

In Italy, Inter have had the third best attack across the league. They take 17.8 shots at goal on average per game with an average of 6.15 of them ending up on target. They have scored 2.23 goals per match. Defensively speaking, the Nerazzurri allow 12.23 shots with 3.23 of them ending up on target.

However, things are not quite so good in the Champions League. In Inter’s four Champions League games to date, they have managed to average 11 shots at goal per game with an average of four of them ending up on target. Their goals per game sits at 1.5. They have meanwhile conceded 13.75 shots at goal with five of those shots ending up on target.

The possession numbers are also quite a bit worse too. In Italy, Inter average 55% possession in games but just 42.5% in Europe.
