Inter’s Arturo Vidal Apologizes For COVID-19 Protocol Breach With Chile: “We Know We Made A Mistake” | OneFootball

Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has apologized for his involvement in an incident which breached COVID-19 protocols in the Chilean national team camp at the Copa America.

Speaking in an official post-match interview after Chile’s match against Uruguay, as reported by FCInterNews, the Chilean states that he regrets the incident and didn’t mean to cause controversy, but is aware that what he did was wrong.

It had been reported in the past days that a group of Chilean players had invited a hairdresser into the national team camp, an action which was in breach of the rules for the tournament designed to stop the spread of COVID-19, and that Vidal was among the group.

In his apologies the 34-year-old confirms his involvement and explains that he is sorry, but also suggests that the controversy should not be exaggerated:

“In Chile we are used to these controversies, we always look for things where there are none. We know we made a mistake with the hairdresser, but we didn’t mean to do wrong.”

The midfielder continues by addressing the rumours that there is a problem with the Chilean national team manager Martin Lasarte or that the head coach’s position could be under thread, stating:

“There has never been a problem with the coach, it’s incredible what they say. We are united and we proved it in [the match against Uruguay].”
