In action all over the planet

The international break is now over, and our Red Bulls are on the way back to Salzburg. Time to take a look at how our boys got on for their national teams.

  • In the clash between Austria and Serbia, Aleksa Terzic & Co were able to celebrate maintaining their UEFA Nations League A status. Our left-back, who was suspended for the first leg, started the 2-0 home win in Belgrade in the return leg (before being substituted off in the second half). Alex Schlager kept goal for Austria both times - and had no chance of stopping an equaliser in Vienna, before being unfortunate in the goal that gave Serbia the lead in the second leg. Samson Baidoo did not appear in either match.
  • Oscar Gloukh and Israel began their World Cup qualifying campaign, with our midfield marvel starting both matches. He celebrated a 2-1 win against Estonia - in which he put in a strong performance. Two Israeli goals were not enough against Norway as they lost 2-4.

  1. Africa's World Cup qualifying is even further along. Dorgeles Nene started both of Mali's fifth and sixth qualifiers (out of ten). Nene scored as they started well with a 3-0 win against the Comoros, but he and his team-mates were unable to score in a goalless draw against the Central African Republic, which does not do the Eagles' qualifying hopes too much good.

Appearances for youth national teams

  1. Adam Daghim started Denmark U21's 3-3 friendly draw against Poland, playing 76 minutes. He began on the bench in the following friendly against Italy.
  2. Joane Gadou and France U19 lost a European qualifier against Spain 1-2 and were also beaten 0-2 by Italy. A 2-1 win over Latvia was not enough to ensure qualification, although our defender started all three matches for the young French side.
  3. Salko Hamzic kept goal for Austria U19 in all three of their European qualifying ties. They took 3-1 wins against both their Hungarian and Icelandic counterparts, although Austria missed out on the finals after a 1-2 defeat to a clinical Danish side.
