International player set to remain at Liverpool after insight on situation

Neco Williams is set to remain at Liverpool this summer transfer window according to reporter Paul Gorst, with the plan being that the Reds want to try and rotate him into the side a little bit more next season.

The Reds are looking to bounce back from a tough campaign last year which, whilst ended on a high with a third place, was below where we wanted it to be.

Indeed, the fiasco at centre-half evidently upset our rhythm quite a lot and that prevented Williams from earning more game time than he did, as Jurgen Klopp tried to keep as much experience as possible in his team.

Naturally, then, it has been suggested Williams might even move on this summer but Gorst feels that is unlikely to happen with the Welsh international.

He said to the Echo:

“I think the plan for Williams is for him to stay put. He’s only 20 and a fully-fledged international. The hope is that a lack of injured centre-backs might allow more rotation in full-back areas next season.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Williams is a young player that just needs to keep learning and Liverpool just need to decide where the best place for him to do that is going to be.

It seems as though they think keeping him around would be a good idea and that might not actually be a bad shout, given the defensive players he can learn off of.
