Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been omitted from Ghana’s squad for the November international fixtures, following his absence in the last round of games. Ghana, currently struggling with one of its poorest runs of form in recent history, is facing heightened pressure from frustrated fans. The decision to leave out Partey, who serves as the team’s vice-captain, was made by Ghana’s national team manager, Otto Addo, after a conversation with the player.

According to Addo, Partey had expressed his eagerness to rejoin the squad after missing the October games due to illness. However, Addo decided it would be best for Partey to remain absent from the team for this round of matches. As reported by the Daily Mail, Addo commented, “He wanted to come, he wanted to come, but I made it quite clear why he is not coming. Like I said, it’s confidential. It is difficult for me to mention all the things. It’s like that. We have to move on.”

While Addo did not provide specific details, he emphasised that Partey’s omission is not a permanent decision, and the door remains open for the Arsenal star to return in future matches. Addo stated, “Now, as you know, Thomas is not coming and it’s not a permanent thing, so we are always open for him to return. I hope that the things we talked [about]…he will do better in that and that he will join the team maybe in the next window in March.”

For Arsenal, this decision might be viewed as advantageous. Despite his history of injury setbacks, Partey has remained fit this season, and being excused from national duty could help him rest and maintain his fitness for the Gunners. This break may allow Partey to focus entirely on Arsenal’s upcoming matches in both the Premier League and Europe, without the added risk of injury from international play.

With the national team struggling and fans expressing their discontent, Ghana hopes for a turnaround. Whether or not Partey returns in March, his absence this month might serve to ease his workload, potentially benefiting his contributions at the club level.
