Vincent Kompany will be the new coach of FC Bayern – Max Eberl in particular was probably in favour of this. Now the fate of the sports director is being linked to Kompany’s success.

FC Bayern has found its new coach in Vincent Kompany. This ends the German record champions‘ long search for a coach. Finding the successor to Thomas Tuchel was the first major task for which Max Eberl was responsible as the new sporting director.

And the way Eberl handled this task was apparently not well received by the entire club. According to Sky, the long search for a coach was criticised internally. According to the report, Eberl prevailed with the choice of Kompany, although not everyone at the club liked the idea.

According to the report, several „top bosses“, including Uli Hoeneß, have again argued in favour of Hansi Flick’s return in recent days. Eberl then made a clear internal announcement in favour of Kompany. Not everyone liked that, but Eberl prevailed and has 100 per cent confidence in his idea of Kompany. But: According to Sky, Eberl’s future is already closely linked to Kompany’s success.

Could things get uncomfortable for Eberl at FC Bayern if the plan with the 38-year-old Belgian doesn’t work out?

Eberl was also in favour of Tuchel staying

It can apparently happen that quickly at Säbener Straße. Eberl had only recently said that he had only been sporting director for ten weeks, but it already felt like ten years.

At least the search for a new Bayern coach took a really long time. In February, the club and coach Tuchel announced that they would be parting ways at the end of the season. Then several coaches such as Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, Oliver Glasner and Roger Schmidt cancelled their contracts with the Munich club, including Eberl.

Negotiations were also held to keep Tuchel, but no agreement was reached here either. Before the decision in favour of Kompany, Eberl is also said to have been the driving force behind a possible U-turn for Tuchel at the club.
