The midfielder’s superb showing against England, followed by his positive Covid test, mean he’s been in the headlines all the time, and now there’s serious juice around a potential loan move for him this summer.

We’ve reported on a few different clubs who apparently want him on loan, and their numbers are growing every day.

Caughtoffside cite the Daily Record, who say that Rangers, the club Chelsea signed Gilmour from, have joined the queue.

We quite like that as a move – he would start every week and get European football. But the standard in Scotland isn’t high, and he would be very much out of sight compared to if he was playing for Wolves or Leeds, the other potential destinations mentioned in the article.

With hindsight, this was the season to send him to Rangers. Now he’s ready for the next level.
