Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola will remain at Serie B club Monza on loan until the end of the season after an agreement was reached to extend his current deal.

The 18-year-old initially moved to Monza in October as Inter looked to give him playing time and match experience, although he has only made a single Serie B appearance this term.

Having failed to break into the first team, Pirola was set to be recalled and sent back out to fellow second division outfit Pescara, but FCInternews.it report that an injury to Gabriele Paletta has seen Monza look to retain him.

With former Italy international Paletta facing time on the sidelines, the Biancorossi are light on numbers at centre-back and have successfully persuaded both Inter and Pirola to allow him to remain at the club.

Monza, owned by ex-AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi, currently sit in fifth place in Serie B as they target promotion this term.
