The only chance of Inter moving for Barcelona midfielder during the January transfer window would be if current Nerazzurri midfielder Roberto Gagliardini leaves the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that a departure of the former Atalanta midfielder could well open the door for Kessie’s arrival, but that otherwise a move would certainly wait until June.

Kessie has reportedly come onto Inter’s radar.

The Ivorian has long been a target, having also been linked as a summer target before he decided to make the move to Barcelona from AC Milan on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has found playing time hard to come by in Catalonia, and this could well lead to a move away.

If Kessie leaves in January, Inter would first have to offload Gagliardini, whose contract expires at the end of June 2023, to sign the Ivorian

Kessie’s wages of €6.5 million net per season would be a stumbling block for the Nerazzurri, whether in January or June, although a loan agreement with Barcelona could make a move feasible.
