Inter would only be likely to make a move for Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi later on in the transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri do consider the 34-year-old a target but only for the second half of August.
Inter are expected to make one more signing before the transfer window closes, with the profile sought being a low-cost defensive option who can add depth to the backline following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia.
Acerbi checks the necessary boxes as an out-and-out centre-back who would be able to deputize for Stefan de Vrij in the centre of the back three, and would not be unwelcome for coach Simone Inzaghi who worked with the 34-year-old at Lazio.
However, for the time being Inter are not accelerating in their pursuit of Acerbi, and they will wait to see how things develop over the next few weeks before considering whether they want to push for his arrival.
