Inter will not be bringing Zinho Vanheusden back to the club this summer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Il Giorno’s print edition, the Nerazzurri had a gentleman’s agreement with Standard Liege to re-sign the defender for €15 million, but that will not happen.

Inter made the agreement before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and now they have different needs, meaning Vanheusden will stay in Belgium.

Vanheusden will therefore not get the chance to return to the club where he made his name as a teenager, impressing in the Nerazzurri’s Primavera side.

Inter need to lower their wage bill in the summer and this will lead them to release several players who are out of contract on June 30, the report continued.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young are destined not to renew their deals while Andrea Ranocchia could follow them out of the door.

Danilo D’Ambrosio is not certain to stay either, despite having seemed very close to signing a new one-year deal earlier in the season.

Inter will try to raise further funds by selling loan players such as Joao Mario, Dalbert, Valentino Lazaro and Radja Nainggolan, but the report warned that recent years showed how difficult it would be to do that.
