Inter Wingback Robin Gosens: “San Siro Exploded With Emotion After My Goal Against AC Milan, Denzel Dumfries Doesn’t Laugh Much But That’s Just How He Is” | OneFootball

Inter wingback Robin Gosens can still remember the feeling he got from the San Siro when he scored against city rivals AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal last season.

Speaking in an Instagram Q&A on the Nerazzurri’s official account, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old looked back on his massive goal against the Rossoneri, and also explained that his teammate Denzel Dumfries doesn’t laugh much but that’s just how he is.

Gosens has not always been a regular for Inter since joining from Atalanta in January, but the German has already scored some hugely important goals for the team.

The 28-year-old was on the scoresheet in the Nerazzurri’s memorable 3-3 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the Champions League this season, and before then he scored the third goal in a 3-0 victory over Milan that saw Inter reach the Coppa Italia final, which they won.

Gosens can still remember that goal against the Rossoneri, recalling that “My most exciting match was the Coppa Italia derby win, because I was returning from an injury and a few minutes after I came on, Brozovic played a beautiful ball for me, I scored and the San Siro exploded.”

“I’d also have to say that scoring at the Camp Nou [in the 3-3 Champions League draw] was equally exciting.”

Gosens noted that “When I arrived at Inter, I bonded a lot with Calhanoglu because we speak the same language.”

“At first, you always bond with the players who speak the same language as you.”

“In addition to him, I also bonded with Dumfries and De Vrij.”

Asked who the nicest teammate he has is, Gosens said that “I’d say Denzel, he never laughs, but also Barella and Dimarco like to be loud and have fun.”

“Dumfries never laughs because he’s so focused, he rarely jokes around in the locker room, I guess it’s just how he is.”

Asked who his idol in football is, Gosens replied that “When I grew up as a footballer it was always David Alaba.”

“I always loved the fact that he always played at such a high level across different positions,” he said of the Austrian.

“At the moment Joshua Kimmich as well, who is my teammate in the national team,” he noted. “I want to emulate his mentality and discipline.”

And asked who the best players he’s played alongside are, Gosens replied “Josip Ilicic and Papu Gomez. When I came to Atalanta, I realized just how good they really are.”
