The excellent form of Federico Dimarco has seen the Inter wingback cement his place as the first choice option for both club and country.

As reported in yesterday’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the former Hellas Verona defender has enjoyed a strong campaign with the Nerazzurri and fought off competition from Robin Gosens to establish himself as coach Simone Inzaghi’s preferred option on the left flank.

However, it is not only at club level that the 25-year-old has established himself, with Italy coach Roberto Mancini also turning to Dimarco as his favoured option for the national team.

Mancini has been a long-term admirer of Dimarco and his excellent performances in the first half of the season have not gone unnoticed, with the reward being an undisputed position as the starting left wingback for the Azzurri.

Dimarco made his international debut for Italy in a 1-1 draw against Germany in the UEFA Nations League in June, and has won eight caps in total, scoring once.
