Inter wing-back Achraf Hakimi has drawn praise for his performance in yesterday’s 5-1 win over Sampdoria in Serie A, with Italian media suggesting he was one of the best players.

The Serie A champions thrashed Claudio Ranieri’s side at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with Alexis Sanchez’s first half brace following up an early Roberto Gagliardini goal, whilst strikers Andrea Pinamonti and Lautaro Martinez also scored.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, it was the impact of Hakimi that made the difference, with the Morocco international awarded a 7 in their player ratings.

Hakimi was praised for his powerful running and close interchanges with Sanchez, although his shooting was wayward.

Centre-back Andrea Ranocchia also claimed the plaudits after being given a rare start and showing solidity and reliability at the back, with the experienced defender also awarded a 7.

Elsewhere, midfielder Gagliardini received a 6.5 after providing an assist to follow up his goal. The newspaper suggested that he turned into former England international Steven Gerrard when coming up against Genoese teams, having netted seven of his 14 Inter goals against Sampdoria and Genoa.

Substitute Nicolo Barella was also praised for his impact in midfield after entering the play in the second half and immediately setting up Pinamonti, before winning the penalty for Martinez to score. The Italian international was awarded a 6.5 for his display.
