There is a growing chance that Aleksandar Kolarov may retire from playing in January rather than in June as is expected, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, the lack of involvement this season for the Serbian defender could be down to the fact he does not have the necessary fitness anyone to compete at the level needed of him.

The ex-Manchester City defender has been touted as a possible coach for Inter as part of Simone Inzaghi’s team since he retires but that could now happen as soon as January rather than in June.

If that were to happen Inter would have to act fast and try to bring in Filip Kotic from Eintracht Frankfurt. He is the favoured choice to be back up for Ivan Perisic on the left side but would need to have an obligation to buy in the loan deal.
