Inter are determined to hold on to midfielder Nicolo Barella and remain adamant that he is not for sale, regardless of the club’s uncertain financial future.

Owners Suning are currently in discussions over bringing in fresh investment or even a complete sale of the club, as they battle mounting debts at the Nerazzurri.

Despite this, Inter have rejected the possibility of cashing in on Italian international Barella and will instead seek to offer him an extended contract, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

The former Cagliari midfielder has enjoyed an impressive season for Antonio Conte’s side, helping them to open up a four point lead at the summit of Serie A in his second year at the club.

Barella is now considered to be an essential part of the team and the Nerazzurri will not entertain any offers for a player they consider to be a future captain, with a focus now on improving a contract that ties him to the club until 2024.

The 24-year-old joined Inter from Cagliari on an initial season-long loan in 2019, before completing a permanent switch for €40 million last year.
