Marco Guida, the referee appointed for Inter-Juventus is already under pressure as furious Atletico Madrid have filed a complaint to UEFA following the Italian official’s controversial penalty decision in their latest Champions League fixture.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have filed a complaint to UEFA against Guida’s decision to give their opponent, Lille, a controversial penalty kick during Wednesday’s Champions League game at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Colchoneros’ boss, Diego Simeone, a former Inter and Lazio midfielder, called Guida’s decision “hallucinating.” Several sources, including Fabrizio Romano, claim Atletico has now filed a formal complaint with the European Football governing body.
Multiple Italian media outlets, including Tuttosport and Gazzetta, note that the Italian official is already under pressure ahead of one of the season’s biggest games in Serie A.
This coming Sunday, Guida will officiate Inter-Juventus, a match between Serie A title contenders and a fixture that has often caused referee controversies in recent years.
