Inter are not likely to try and sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram again after missing out on his signature during the summer transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri do not consider the Frenchman a serious target for the January transfer window.
Thuram had reportedly been close to a move to Inter during the summer transfer window as the club looked for attacking reinforcements following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.
However, the move broke down after the 24-year-old suffered a knee injury which ruled him out for several weeks and the Nerazzurri moved onto Lazio’s Joaquin Correa instead.
The Nerazzurri could still look to resume their pursuit of Thuram in January if Alexis Sanchez leaves the club, but even in the event of the Chilean’s departure he is not the profile of player that the club would be looking for.
Inter would likely prefer to reinforce their attack with a more traditional Number Nine who can lead the line and attack space in behind and Thuram would not be this type of player.
Moreover, while Thuram has been back from his knee injury for some time, he is yet to really hit the form that he had been in pre-injury, and this could further put the Nerazzurri off trying to sign him again.
