Inter will hold the first formal meeting towards potentially extending the contract of wing-back Ivan Perisic before the end of the year.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are aiming to hold the meeting before Christmas as they look to convince the 32-year-old to stay on past next summer.

Perisic’s current deal is set to run out at the end of June 2022, and until a few weeks it looked unlikely that he and the club would be able to come to an agreement on an extension.

However, the Croat’s recent form has been vital to the Nerazzurri’s good performances as a team, and this has convinced the club to try once again to secure his future.

It is reported that Perisic does not want to sign a new deal which would see him earn less than the net €5 million which he does on his current contract, while the club are not willing to offer that much.

However, the Nerazzurri still want to try and reach an agreement, and will hold the first meeting towards this end before the end of the year.
