‘There’s no such thing as a friendly’ must have been the message in the minds of Inter duo Alexis Sanchez and Kristjan Asllani, who briefly clashed after a strong challenge during Chile’s 3-0 victory over Albania on Friday evening.
The Nerazzurri teammates, who both scored for Inter in a 2-1 win over Genoa in Serie A at the beginning of the month, engaged in a frustrated exchange after Sanchez landed a clumsy stamp on Asllani’s ankle.
Asllani slid in with the initial challenge on the 27th minute, but it was Sanchez’s landing that caused the initial upset.
Both players fell to the ground following the challenge, although Sanchez was the only player booked in the exchange. He had tried to issue an apology to Asllani, who looked up at his club colleague with a look of frustration and confusion in equal measure.
Fortunately for Asllani, there was no lasting impact as a result of the stamp, and Sanchez later apologised again at half-time. The two then proceeded to exchange shirts as they headed for the tunnel.
