Romelu Lukaku netted a brace in Inter’s 4-0 thrashing of Benevento in Serie A yesterday, to take his tally for the season to 20.
The Belgium international struck twice in the second half at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as Inter kept the pace with league leaders AC Milan, remaining just two points behind.
His brace came just days after being in the middle of a controversial argument with Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Inter’s Coppa Italia Quarter-Final victory and, as reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku is still affected by it.
Lukaku cut a frustrated figure and has remained silent on the matter with Ibrahimovic since Tuesday’s clash, whilst he is believed to have bene stung by the Swede’s more personal attacks.
However, the former Manchester United striker continued his impressive goalscoring form on the pitch against Benevento, as he moves second in the Serie A goalscoring chart with 14 strikes.
His second against the Stregoni was his 54th goal for Inter in just 77 appearances since arriving in 2019.
