Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is desperate to be able to return for the team’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo on Saturday, but there are no guarantees that he will be.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 29-year-old feels a great desire to finally be able to back helping his team on the pitch, even if he knows he must be patient.

Lukaku’s recovery period from his thigh strain has dragged on longer than expected, causing the Belgian to miss out on yesterday’s Serie A loss to Roma and then Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

The issue has always been that both the striker and the team will not risk a return until it is absolutely certain that he will not exacerbate the problem by trying to force himself to play.

Accordingly, while the Belgian wants to be on the pitch against Sassuolo on Saturday, there is still no guarantee that he can be.
