Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s father Mario Martinez has admitted that he was left speechless by his son’s celebration in this past weekend’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria.
The highly rated 22-year-old broke a six match run without scoring as he scored Inter’s second goal just after the half hour mark against La Samp.
To celebrate, the Argentine national team forward raised his shirt and unveiled a fathers day tribute to his father which was printed on his undershirt.
“It was something surprising, but at the same time unmatched. It left me speechless,” Martinez senior remarked in an interview with Argentine news outlet racingdealma.com.ar.
“Sometimes you dream of these things, but when they happen and you see them, they leave you paralysed. For every parent, I think it’s one of the best gifts you can receive.”
This season Lautaro has become a regular starter at Inter and he has formed a formidable partnership with Romelu Lukaku.
Lautaro has netted 17 goals and tallied four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions to date this term and has found himself strongly linked with a possible move to Barcelona in the coming months.
He has a €111 million release clause in his contract and it has been widely reported that Barcelona would rather do a player plus cash deal for him instead.
